Invention title:
Anti-tumor agents and their manufacturing methods
Patent No. 6302239
The ALA Corporation’s original Lactobacillus plantarum LP284 has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells in mice, and it is know that these effects are stronger in dead cells than living cells. The novelty of the LP284 strain has been recognized in its ability to draw out the greatest possible immune activity as well as its original sterilization method.
Mice with planted tumors were separated into two groups, one administered dead LP284 cells and the other administered live LP284 cells. After comparing changes in tumor size, the group administered dead LP284 was found to show the greatest inhibition in tumor growth.
When cytokine (a substance that inhibits tumor growth) productivity levels after mice’s Peyer’s patch cells were put in contact with living versus dead LP284 cells were compared, the greatest level of productivity was found for dead LP284 cells. (in vitro)
