About the Research

Bacterial Strain Collection

The ALA Research Institute for Fermentative Microbes has a collection of over 2000 bacterial strains that are stored under rigorous conditions at minus 80 degrees C. From this collection, we carefully select only the most superior strains for use in our products.

Plant-based Lactic Acid Bacteria that Stimulates Immune Activity
LP-284

The ALA Research Institute for Fermentative Microbes’s original Lactobacillus plantarum LP-284 strain is known to have especially potent immunostimulating properties.

Here is a comparison of cytokine (TNF-α、IL-12、IFN-γ) production when lactic acid bacteria cell components act upon the microphage in vitro. LP284 has the highest cytokine production rate among the bacterial strains.

LP284 as an Anti-Tumor Agent

The ALA Corporation’s original Lactobacillus plantarum LP284 has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells in mice, and it is known that these effects are stronger in dead cells than living cells.

Mechanism by which LP284 Attacks Tumors

At the same time, the LP-284 strain has been acknowledged as a unique bacterial strain that inhibits tumors through a special heat sterilization process. Its novelty has been acknowledged and it has acquired a patent in 2018.

Comparison with Other Companies’ Products

The ALA Corporation’s original Lactobacillus LP-284 strain is known to have superior immunostimulating properties, even in comparison to other companies’ products.
